Clinic owners — physio · OT · exercise physiology · podiatry · osteo · chiro · psychology · speech

This free guide shows you the one date that decides what every clinician on your payroll is owed from 1 October — and how to find it in your own records in about ten minutes.

It’s called the anchor date. Most practices have never recorded it, because until now it didn’t matter. Get it wrong and the band is wrong, the rate is wrong, and every progression date is wrong — compounding through all six dates to 2030. And it starts with records, not with the award. You can make real progress on it this week.

Written for the owner who actually signs the pay run. Three pages, plain English, worked with your payroll open in about ten minutes. The structure and every date are locked and public — what almost no clinic has done is check which date the structure runs on for each of their own people.

“The Anchor Date — the one date the new structure runs on, and how to check yours”

Three pages. Built to be used in about ten minutes with your payroll open, not read end to end.

Inside it

  • What the anchor date actually is — and why it is almost never the date sitting in your payroll system today
  • A ten-minute check, four steps, worked from your own records rather than from the award
  • Every key date, from the July 2026 annual increase through to the final stage in 2030 — and what actually happens on each one
  • What’s locked and operative from 1 October — the parts you can build your September pay run on
  • The records to have in hand before 1 October — what to pull from your files first, ahead of any call about the award
  • Where the primary documents are, and the exact searches that get you to them

What owners tend to find when they actually run the check

Six things the guide walks through, in the order they matter.

Why July felt like the event, and October is the part still open

Two changes hit the same award in one financial year, under two different sets of rules. Most owners updated payroll in July, closed the folder marked “wages, done”, and October now arrives at a business that has already decided it has finished thinking about this.

The date in your payroll system is probably the wrong date

Progression runs from when someone was first employed in the profession. Not the day they started with you, and not the day they graduated. For anyone who worked somewhere before you, those are different dates — and the gap is usually years, not months.

Why “nobody goes backwards” doesn’t mean what it sounds like

It’s the most reassuring line in the whole transition, and it’s true. It’s also the one most often acted on incorrectly. The protection is a floor, set per person, on one day, from what that individual actually carried. What you pay someone may sit well above it, and that gap is a separate question.

It gets tested six times, not once

Six dates between July 2026 and 2030, all of them already published. The distance between what you pay and where the floor sits is tested at every one. Something comfortable at the first may not be comfortable at the fourth — and progression now runs on each person’s own anniversary, not one date in July.

The records that settle this are already in your filing cabinet

A start date, a qualification, a contract. The checklist is a collection job — you are gathering facts, not making calls about the award. The work is finding them, and that is a very different job in September than it is in October.

You get taken to the primary documents, not to our summary of them

The determination, the schedule, the dates — named, with the exact searches that put them on your screen inside a minute. Every line in the guide can be checked against the source. Most owners have never once opened the document that decides what they pay their staff.
